Husband of Edith Korkell. Got his foot stepped on by Howard and was bruised. He's a meter reader. Affectionately called "Mr. Husband" by his wife. Doesn't like Howard and said he should be punished. Uncle Fletcher tells him he looks a great deal like George J. McTrotch of Oklahoma. Gives piano lessons. Wanted to become a part of the Sewage Worker's Silver Cornet Band. Also plays the banjo.

The town's garbage collector. His first name is 'Jake.' He borrowed Vic's lodge robe and returned it with a raspberry pie and a thank you card. Married a woman named Josephine via mail-order matrimonial serice; the two moved to West Chestnut Street. It's very likely this was a short-lived marriage. Doesn't wear socks. Owned a horse named 'Margaret Evelyn' that died. Owned a horse named 'Cecil' who pulled his garbage wagon until Cecil died. In the meantime, a horse named 'Vernon' pulled the wagon. Owns a horse named, 'Howard.' Offered Sade a horse stall to store junk. Once got punched in the nose by Mr. Donahue for blowing kisses at Mis' Donahue. Has a collection of girlie magazine covers on the walls inside Howard's stall. Has a brother that owns a shoe store that burned up. Sells Christmas cards. Hauls around Uncle Fletcher and his junk a lot. Has an automobile horn on his garbage wagon. Lives at the Bright Kentucky Hotel. Never misses a motion picture opening at the Bijou. He and the Brick Mush man sometimes argue. He once found Vic's discarded plumme' lodge hat and put it on Howard as a sun hat. He once wore Ike Kneesuffer's old lodge regalia on his garbage route. Wasn't until November of 1945 that he noticed the broken Gook garbage box from July of 1944. The citizens of Dwight and Streator dubbed him the Grand Old Man of Garbage (he deemed that an honor.) Gave away awards for prettiest garbage box. Lost his dentures that were found by Mr. Overholt. Was often awakened by a fast passenger train that would flash by the Bright Kentucky Hotel sixty or seventy miles an hour. The building would shake from the vibration and he'd ride all around the room in his bed. One time he rode right out the bedroom into the hallway. He woke up the next morning in the hall by the fire-escape, thirty-five feet from the spot where he'd retired. Spends many of his nights reading at the public library. Some of his close friends call him 'Francis'.

His first name is "Pete." Lives next door to the Gooks. A freight train engineer - sems to be always asleep, at least in the day time and sleeps with his window open. He and his wife gave Sade a new piece of luggage. Got a promotion at his job at the railroad to the job of Traveling Inspector of Locomotives. Invited Vic to ride the engine with him on a trip to Chicago. Punched Mr. Gumpox in the nose because he blew a kiss at his wife while on his garbage route. Had his lunch eaten by Howard, Gumpox's horse - he got mad and hit Howard with a newspaper. Asked for a demotion back to his job as an engineer on the railroad because he couldn't sit down on train without getting his fancy clothes dirty.. Before he changed back to his old job, he had designs on moving to the ritzier part of town on Oakland Avenue. A good friend to Erkhardt, Mis' Scott's brother. Once slept in a bed in the back of Erkhardt's on a trip to Chicago and back. Very frugal with his money. He attempted to fix Rush's hair after Smelly Clark gave him a haircut. Hates vacation time from work as it turns his life upside-down. He hates leisure; enjoys keeping busy with his hands. Mr. Gumpox made accusations that Donahue was known to throw hot coal into his window at the Bright Kentucky Hotel when the train roared past and also yelling at him (via train) at 2 or 3 am.
