The Gook landlord. Likes to do house repairs cheaply. Sade does not like him. Owns and rents out at least 3 houses on Virginia Avenue.  Seems to like to hold onto junk.  He puts a variety of items in his hatband, including pins, matches, paperclips and "things he's found in the street".  He also has a collection of shabby suit coats and overalls that are 'stored' at the Gook home.  Sade believes his wife told him to get rid of them and believes he hides them out over at their house..  Sells Christmas cards.  Sade once described him as "greasy" and "oily." Once left the Gooks an axe so they could make a contest out of destroying the banister.  Dropped off wallpaper samples with various odd things on them, including apes and apparent psychedlia.  For Beulah's 7th wedding anniversary, planned on giving her the Gook house without giving her the actual deed. He dropped by the Gook house to see if the back porch really needed fixing.  Bought Sade a gift: a doorbell.  Is of the town's four noted male criers.

CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Mr. Erickson sounds like a loud, corpulent man, with a round, moon-like face that always wears a smile; but with shrewd eyes constantly probing for financial gain. He thinks he impresses people with his good humor and open-handedness, but, because of his love for appearances over character, and bargains over value, he seems shabby and vulgar. - Sarah Cole
