Has a desire to both join the lodge and to get kicked out of it.  After being warned six different times about going to sleep in the customer's basements, got fired from his job.  Vic hires him to work in the boxing department of Consolidated Kitchenware.  Somehow got his job back as a gas meter reader.  Mr. Zee teased him.

Is afraid of Uncle Fletcher for the simple fact that he continually tries to help him back to his house, even though he's trying to go to the grocery store.  His first name is "Mervin." Brought back some embroidery hoops his daughter, Mis' Harris, had borrowed.  Born in Boston.  Also claims to be born in Syracuse, New York, St. Louis, Missouri, Baltimore, Maryland, Lebanon, Indiana and Somerset, Kentucky.  Wears baby bonnets he gets in the mail from Syracuse.  He also has a water-proof baby bonnet, which he got from Toledo, Ohio.  Bought an attention-getting siren (whistle) for alerting his daughter when he wants soup or nuts with chocolate smeared on the outside; twice blew it in the kitchen when the Thimble Club meeting was in progress, alerting Sade.  Claims to be born in Toledo, Ohio and Bismarck, North Dakota.
