Father of Leland Richards. He used play the cornet in a band in Jackson, Michigan. The band he was in played a concert one evening and he found after it was over that he had lost 15 pounds! He blew so hard that his eyes bugged out of his head and his hands trembled where he couldn't lift a glass of milk to his mouth. He warped the the tubes of the cornet "something fierce" and the cornet had to be taken to a plumbering shop the next morning to be hammered back in shape. Took a government job in Washington D.C.; Leland contends his father is very strong.
